Itenerary in brief

Day 1: Hanoi – Thai Nguyen – Dinh Hoa – Ba Be  ~219km (Meals: L, D)

Day 2: Ba Be National Park ~18km (Meals: B, L, D)

Day 3: Ba Be – Bang Lung – Chiem Hoa – Bac Quang ~ 250km (Meals:B,L,D)

Day 4: Bac Quang – Heaven  Gate 1 – Heaven Gate 2 – Hoang Su Phi ~ 63km (Meals:B,L,D)

Day 5: Hoang Su Phi  – Xin Man – Bac Ha ~ 80km (Meals:B,L,D)

Day 6: Sunday Market ~ 20km (Meals: B,L,D)

Day 7: Bac Ha  – Lao Cai – Sapa~ 110km (Meals: B,L,D)

Day 8: Bac Ha – Lao Cai – Hanoi ~ 350km (Meals: B,L,D)

Day 1: Hanoi – Thai Nguyen – Dinh Hoa – Ba Be  ~219km (Meals: L, D)

In the morning we drive out of the capital on our support vehicle and head North-East to Thai Nguyen province from where we will start our bike ride to Ba Be National Park. Our first day is rather easy to moderate with a few rides up and down hill through the spectacular mountainous sceneries and beautiful villages of Tay and Nung en route. O/N Bo Lu village of Tay ethnic people.  Cycling distance: 50 – 89km – with escort bus ; Indication: Riding bike on right hand and make a single line because of avoid dangerous vehicles.

Day 2: Ba Be National Park ~18km (Meals: B, L, D)

In the morning, we enter into a quiet road with great view of various small villages of Tay ethnic minority by toward Ba Be National Park Center and take a boat from a small dock where we start our boat trip. We will start a boat cruise along Nang River, once to stop at Puong cave where river goes through a huge mountain. Stop for a short trek to Dau Dang water fall where the river falls then return to the boat dock for a picnic lunch. After lunch, we go back to the boat for transferring back current to Ba Be Lake. If the weather permits, we can have a swim in crystal waters next to Ba Goa islet.  Fairy Pond might be in considering to see if time permit. (No visit Fairy Pond) in the rainy day.  Continue the trip, we transfer the Tay village of Bo Lu.O/N at Bo Lu village of Tay ethnic people. Cycling distance: 18km – without escort bus; Indication: Riding on right hand and free race to the dock; Boat distance: ~ 30km

Day 3: Ba Be – Bang Lung – Chiem Hoa – Bac Quang ~ 250km (Meals:B,L,D)

After breakfast, at 7:00am we start the ride through many mountainous minorities villages route to Bang Lung town. After a picnic lunch in this little town, we start the ride toward the North-West and passing numbers of rocky hills to Chiem Hoa town. The charms of valleys and rice paddy field makes unforgettable mind. The route today is very hard and there are many T-junctions so that our riders need to group together while riding. Continuing we get pick up by our van to drive to Bac Quang town. Arriving Bac Quang town in the late afternoon. O/N at Panhou Lodge. Cycling distance: 70km – without escort bus but we have motorbikes or truck and mechanic man;

Indication: Riding together in empty village traffic routes, crossing the untouched mountain area of Vietnam. It was not allowed foreigners to come here before because the army base.

Day 4: Bac Quang – Heaven  Gate 1 – Heaven Gate 2 – Hoang Su Phi ~ 63km (Meals:B,L,D)

Today’s goal is cycling on the tortuous province route without traffic on the side of Kieu Lieu mountain range with altitude of 2402 meters and being the 2nd highest range in Northern Vietnam. The challenge to riders is cycling over 2 Heaven Gates undulating at the route on 1500m above sea level where tourist can takes hundreds of spectacular scenery photos and beautiful deep valley with many rice terraces. It will be taken a day for riding 60km only. Picnic lunch will be served on the way. O/N in Hoang Su Phi (Vinh Quang town); Cycling distance: 60km – with escort bus;  Indication: Riding on right hand and free race to town. Cycling route today is very hard.

Day 5: Hoang Su Phi  – Xin Man – Bac Ha ~ 80km (Meals:B,L,D)

After breakfast, we start another hard day to the far North boarder road on side of chasms of Kieu Lieu mountain range. This is un-touch area by tourists because of the road is not only well-known by its mysterious beauty but also no car can drive in the rain season because of land – slide and jams the traffics; the main traffic is horse and cow, the houses made mainly by mud and thatch roofs. If we lucky, we can see several group of horse – drawn carts en route to markets. The specific image is the change of inhabitant here is more colorful. We arriving Bac Ha in the late afternoon. O/N in Bac Ha. Cycling distance: 80km – without escort bus but we have motorbikes and mechanic man;  Indication: Riding together in empty traffic routes. Cycling route today is the most beautiful of the trip – we will cycling through the Vietnam heritage wonder nature which realized in November 2012

Day 6: Sunday Market ~ 20km (Meals: B,L,D)

Bac Ha is located at altitude on 700 meters where thereby villagers come to market on a set day in a week. Each community have a market, also Bac Ha’s one named Sunday market. This is one of the most interesting markets in Vietnam and possibly everywhere in the South East Asia. People come to this market is the occasion for the various local ethnic groups gather in huge crowds to exchange the last news, gossip, shopping, handicraft produces and eat Thang Co ( a type of public traditional hot pot in the middle market) and drinking corn wine.

Having breakfast from hotel, we explore the market to see a market day for all tribes: Tay, Nung, Dao, Flower H’mong, Giay, Phu La etc… and have little time to cycle to explore the Hmong King palace; the palace harmonizes the Asian and European architecture style in an area of 4000 square meters since 1930. We go back to hotel for lunch. The rest of the day is for leisure by our own. O/N in Bac Ha.  Cycling distance: ~20km – without escort bus

Day 7: Bac Ha  – Lao Cai – Sapa~ 110km (Meals: B,L,D)

After breakfast in Bac Ha, we set our bike for the ride down to Lao Cai. After refresh-end up, we take our escort bus via border Vietnam – China and transfer to inner Lao Cai town for lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we start our bike again for a spectacular scenery and very big challenge uphill to Sapa tourist town. On the way we can stop many times for taking photo of the imposing deep valley with many rice terraces. O/N Sapa.

Cycling distance: ~70km – with escort bus ;  Indication: Riding bike on right hand and make a single line because of busy traffic and dangerous road.

Day 8: Bac Ha – Lao Cai – Hanoi ~ 350km (Meals: B,L,D)

A day relaxing and roam around the Sapa market and visiting Cat Cat waterfall. Join in a performance dance of Black Hmong people. In the afternoon, we leave Sapa to drive back to Hanoi. Upon arrival we check in hotel in Hanoi. End of tour.   Cycling distance: ~0km – without escort bus; Indication: Follow the highway express Hanoi – Lao Cai in 5 hours no place to eat, only break place
